Why We Wrote Our New Masculinity Training Course
For a long time, the conversation around boys and young men has felt stuck. On one side, public discourse tells us there is a "boy crisis"—rising rates of school exclusion, a mental health emergency, and a profound sense of isolation among youth who feel untethered from traditional societal expectations. On the other side, the solutions offered to practitioners often lean into heavy corporate jargon or abstract academic theories that do not translate into the realities of a residential children’s home, a foster placement, or a frontline social work team.
We wrote our new one-day Level 3 course, Masculinity Training: Shaping Positive Identity, to bridge that gap.
Social care workers and foster carers are dealing daily with the fallout of modern male identity struggles. They see boys masking emotional distress behind bravado, risk-taking, or defensive aggression. They see young minds caught in the crossfire between toxic online influencers preaching rigid, outdated stereotypes and a culture that often struggles to validate what healthy masculinity actually looks like.
Frontline staff do not need another lecture on what is wrong. They need actionable, trauma-informed tools to understand why a teenager acts out, and how to intervene without shaming or alienating him.
